Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is a summer target for both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, his agent has said.
Reports have linked Koscielny, 27, who had an impressive 2012-13
season and has earned a regular starting place for France, with both
European giants, with a potential £15 million fee being mentioned.
Stephane Courbis told Eurosport France, in comments picked up by Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo:
“There has been no contact at all with Barcelona. [But] I am sure that
both Barca and Bayern have included his name on their list of three or
four candidates to reinforce their defence.”
The La Liga title holders are known to be considering strengthening
defensively ahead of next season, given captain Carles Puyol’s ongoing
fitness problems and an apparent lack of managerial faith in youngsters
such as Andreu Fontas and Marc Bartra.
Mundo Deportivo offered a guess at the names on the list compiled by blaugrana
sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and coach Tito Vilanova, including
Koscielny alongside Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain), Daniel Agger
(Liverpool), Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad), Mats Hummels (Borussia
Dortmund) and Jerome Mathieu and Adil Rami (both Valencia).
